Education Specialist, Scientific Content

With the surge of global cardiovascular disease over the last decade, the need for advanced, evidence-based care has never been greater. Scientific publications and programs from the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI) equip heart-care teams with peer-reviewed research, clinical guidelines, and best practices—ensuring they can deliver safer, more effective treatments that improve patient outcomes. As Education Specialist, Scientific Content, you’ll play an essential role in supporting the work of the Publications Committee, the Scientific Oversight Committee, and the editorial board of the journal (JSCAI), helping SCAI lead the way in advancing education for interventional cardiology professionals.

Reporting to the Vice President, Education, Publications, and Quality, you will collaborate with staff, committees, and member volunteers to support the coordination and administration of SCAI’s scientific publications and programs. Your day-to-day work will include coordinating committee meetings and faculty outreach, assisting writing groups and facilitating the development of clinical documents, managing administrative aspects of grant processes, and supporting the development and analysis of scientific surveys. You will also coordinate and track engagement with multimedia educational content, including webinars, podcasts, and eBooks. And you’ll work with the marketing and communications team to expand the reach of SCAI’s content. To succeed in this role, you’ll need strong organizational skills, precise attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple timelines while ensuring all output and communication meets the SCAI’s standards of accuracy and scientific integrity.

How You’ll Make an Impact

You’ll support the delivery of critical scientific insights to the interventional cardiology community, helping cardiology professionals worldwide address real-world challenges and embrace advancements to improve patient care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Committee and Planning Group Coordination. Assist the EPQ Team in the management of committees, clinical interest councils, and content planning groups by maintaining rosters and disclosure reports, scheduling calls, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, and tracking action items for follow-up.
  • Faculty Coordination. Invite members and other experts to serve as contributors to the planning and development of SCAI programs, including faculty for advisory groups, courses, and manuscript authors and reviewers. Process payment of honoraria and reimbursement to subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Multimedia Content Development and Publishing. Assist with the production of Clinical Conversations in Interventional Cardiology, scheduling faculty, recording sessions, tracking participation against targets, and preparing outcomes reports and financial reconciliations for grant-supported activities.
  • Manuscript Coordination. Follow SCAI clinical document methodology and policies. Assist writing groups with adherence to internal and external processes and standards, prepare clinical documents and SCAI-sponsored research manuscripts for peer review, organizational approval, and publication, including version control, formatting, and reference management.
  • Scientific Surveys. Build and implement surveys in alignment with the society’s clinical practice and scientific goals. This includes testing, version control, formatting, and pulling reports. Support faculty in analyzing and synthesizing results for presentation and publication.
  • eBooks. Coordinate the development and publication of assigned eBooks, including faculty invitations, scheduling, timeline management, budgeting, and collaboration with a graphic designer. Administer the lifecycle of eBook marketing initiatives in collaboration with the marketing team to ensure effective outreach and engagement.
  • Scientific Communications. Assist the EPQ team in developing briefs for new and ongoing programs and products, generating copy for storytelling on the website, in newsletters, and on social media platforms.
  • Early Career Research Grants. Handle administrative tasks related to grant applications.
  • Scientific Roundtables. Assist in the planning and coordination of 4 roundtable discussions each year featuring experts on current topics in interventional cardiology.

 

Work Environment, Salary, and Benefits

  • This is a fully remote position with a flexible schedule and occasional evening or weekend hours for committee support. Travel is required for events and staff retreats.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in biology, nursing, public health, or communications, with 3–5 years of experience in a professional setting, ideally within an association, scientific society, higher education, or research environment.
  • Scientific & Research Knowledge: Understanding of scientific research, including publications, study methodologies, guidelines, and surveys. Familiarity with grant reporting, financial reconciliation, and compliance tracking.
  • Skills & Abilities: Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
