Chief Executive Officer

For 50 years, the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) and its affiliated organizations—the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) and the Oncology Nursing Foundation (ONF)—have been at the forefront of advancing oncology nursing, empowering nurses, and driving innovative care delivery. As Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will lead all three entities, which collectively serve 35,000 members with a combined budget of $40 million. As oncology care becomes increasingly complex and expensive, and as digital health technologies and workforce dynamics evolve, you will ensure the enterprise adapts to equip today’s nurses with the education, resources, and support they need to deliver high-quality, equitable care.

Leading seven direct reports and a total staff of 145, you will be the consistent voice that sustains strategic direction across the enterprise, maintaining stability as Board leadership evolves in each organization. You will strengthen financial sustainability by refining our business model and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and relevance for both staff and customers. With a forward-thinking and data-driven approach, you’ll lead the development of new products and services to meet the needs of nurses across all career stages. And you will expand our advocacy reach by forging partnerships with like-minded organizations, amplifying the enterprise’s position as a leading voice in cancer care policy.

The enterprise is built on a foundation of collaboration and care—for the mission, for our customers, and for those affected by cancer. As CEO, you will preserve the best of that culture while guiding staff and oncology nurses toward the future. With minds that never stop learning and hearts that never stop caring, we are transforming cancer care for the better, forever. You will embody that commitment in every interaction—engaging with members, staff, partner organizations, and policymakers with authenticity, purpose, and a deep respect for the vital role of oncology nurses.

About ONS, ONCC, and ONF

As CEO, you will strategically align our three organizations to function as one enterprise:

The mission of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) is to advance excellence in oncology nursing and quality cancer care. ONS is a professional association that represents 100,000 nurses and is the professional home to more than 35,000 members. ONS is committed to promoting excellence in oncology nursing and the transformation of cancer care. Since 1975, ONS has provided a professional community for oncology nurses, developed evidence-based education programs and treatment information, and advocated for patient care, all in an effort to improve the quality of life and outcomes for patients with cancer and their families.

The mission of the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) is to promote health and safety by validating competence and ensuring life-long learning in oncology nursing and related specialties. ONCC provides the premier nationally accredited certifications for nurses in oncology and related specialties. Founded in 1984 as a nonprofit organization, ONCC administered the first Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) examination in 1986. Today, ONCC offers eight credential programs and has more than 41,000 currently certified nurses.

The mission of the Oncology Nursing Foundation (ONF) is to support cancer nursing excellence. Since 1981, the Oncology Nursing Foundation, through generous contributions from individuals and institutions, has provided more than $33 million in funding to support oncology nursing education, research and leadership development. This funding has translated to career development awards, academic scholarships, research grants, a myriad of specialized educational initiatives, as well as nurse resiliency support. The Foundation’s activities have played a critical role in improving patient care and advancing the oncology nursing profession.
